Dear Downtown Plano Restaurants, Merchants:

We are the Historical Downtown Plano Association (HDPA), which is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization.  Our organization is dedicated to bring awareness of the community to the uniqueness of Historic Downtown and to share the pride of Plano’s Downtown area that is experienced by the business owners each and every day.

The HDPA is asking you to partner with us by become a part of the 2nd Annual Taste of Downtown Plano to be held on September 11, 2010.

All of our vendors will be recognized and listed on the website for Downtown Plano (www.visitdowntownplano.org). Your involvement and dedication to the Plano community is widely respected.  We appreciate your commitment in helping to raise the awareness of our great city and to support the Historic Downtown culture of Plano.

We are very excited about this year’s event.  We will begin the day at 11 am and run the Taste of Downtown until 5 pm.  At that time, all of the vendor booths on 15th street must be taken down.  We will continue the event in the J Place parking lot until 10 pm with a concert.  We will have many special items this year including a VIP tent sponsored by Crest Cadillac, a nationally sanctioned chili cook-off sponsored by Jack Daniels with metroplex celebrity judges, a Tuaca Chill Zone featuring Texas spirits and a bartender exhibition with celebrity judges, a Budweiser sponsored Watering Hole, a Kid’s Play area with face painting, clowns, games, etc., and live entertainment throughout the day.

The admission for the J Place Watering Hole will be $3pp.  This is the area that will contain the alcohol, the chili cook-off, and the live music and entertainment.  For the admission price, each guest will receive an entrance wristband into the VIP tent and the J Place Watering Hole.

We will not be charging admission to the “Festival”.  This will ensure that we have happy guests that want to come to the street party for free and can visit only the restaurant or store of their choice for that day instead of having to pay admission.  Each restaurant participant in the festival will keep their own revenues earned for the day from what they are selling at the event!  We would encourage each participant to keep the “samples they are selling” below $5 each.

One more thing, we would like to advertise a “sneak preview” night for the event.  It would be the Thursday evening before the event – September 9th – and we would like to have each restaurant participating in the event serve a “Sneak Peek Dinner” at a fixed price of $15 to $20.  For all of the publicity around the Dallas / Plano area that each of these places will receive, we would like for the restaurant to donate 50% (or $7.50 to $10) per meal back to the HDPA for each “Sneak Peek Dinner” they sell that night.  This will be a big advertising plan to get a list of the participating restaurants publicized so that people can get a sneak peek of the area before they come to the event on Saturday.  We will also be providing a “postcard” sized promo about the event that you can distribute to your customers up until the day of the event.

There will be a lot of publicity and advertising about the Downtown area for this event!  Please plan to be part of this excitement and fun!!

Attached is the Vendor Form for the event.  We need these completed forms returned back to us no later than August 24th.

Yours Sincerely,
Bonnie Shea

President – HDPA
