Merchants and vendors invited to exhibit

ANO July 26, 2011 Families across North Texas will have a wonderful October event to enjoy together, with top food, top entertainment, and an experience with something for the whole family.

The Historic Downtown Plano Association will present the 2011 Feast-ival, taking place on Saturday, October 22, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the square at 15th Street in Plano’s entertaining and relaxing east Downtown district, including Haggard Park.

The 2011 Feast-ival will feature a Grand Autumn Tasting from 25 of Collin County’s top restaurants.

The Feast-ival will also benefit the charities of The Assistance Center of Collin County, rresponding to families in crisis with food, shelter, clothing and medical assistance, and The Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, providing safety, healing and justice to children victimized by abuse or neglect.  www.assistancecenter.org  and www.cacplano.org.

A major attraction at the event will be a live performance by 2011 American Idol contestant and Texas Singer-Songwriter and American Idol Top 12 Males Tim Halperin.  Tim’s distinctive voice, soulful piano vibe and acumen for writing original songs packed with raw emotion have built a national and loyal fan base. Stylistically blending an infectious mix of pop and rock with a hint of jazz, Tim’s trademark catchy melodies, unique vocal sound, and rhythmic piano style have struck a chord with audiences from coast to coast.

With a full length CD set to release on October 1st, Tim already has a hit with “The Last Song” being spun at top 40 radio stations across the country. The newly released music video for “The Last Song” has received acclaim for its creative storyline and cinematic look. Find it at www.timhalperin.com.

Thought of as one of the brightest young singer/songwriters in the nation, Tim has been gratified to be compared to his favorite musical influences including Coldplay, Ben Folds, The Fray, and Jason Mraz. For those lucky enough to see Tim on stage, his performances are the perfect combination of high energy and emotion-packed delivery, as well as intimate audience engagement and connection.

American Idol Star and North Texas singer/songwriter Tim Halperin
will headline the 2011 Feast-ival in Downtown Plano on October 22.

Finishing as one of the Top 12 Males in this year’s American Idol competition, Tim beat out a field of more than 125,000 entrants to compete on the show. His Los Angeles audition singing Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved” gained nationwide attention when judge Jennifer Lopez was captivated by Tim’s voice. His duet with contestant Julie Zorrilla on Beatles “Something” earned rave reviews. And Tim was the first competitor ever to play an original song on the show.

During his time on Idol, millions of viewers were introduced to Tim’s fun-loving and genuine personality. His sincerity and warmth was not lost on the media either. Countless interviews followed Tim’s exit from Idol. And Kidd Kraddick on 106.1 in Dallas, one of the most influential syndicated radio personalities in the nation, decided that Tim had not been given enough of a chance on Idol.

So he created the “Idol Got It Wrong” segment to prove to America that Tim should have won the competition.  Each week Tim learned a song overnight performed by an Idol contestant, and then sang it live the next day on air. Voting audiences declared Tim the winner through nine weeks of competition and Kraddick was proud to say that Idol did indeed get it wrong.   Since then, Kidd Kraddick has invited Tim for many guest radio appearances and promoted him in performances in San Antonio, New Orleans and Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. Other events will follow with Tim performing benefits for Kraddick’s Kidd’s Kids charitable foundation.

Along with this great entertainment, the 2011 Feast-ival will also include a an Official National Chili Cookoff Event (on the certified United States Chili Cookoff Circuit) with entries from professional and home chefs.

Restaurants in the area include The Fillmore Pub, Into My Garden Tearoom, Jorg’s Café Vienna, Kelly’s Eastside, Nee Nee’s Tearoom, Bake Rejoice, Urban Crust and 32 Degrees Rooftop Bar, The Vickery Park, Ye Ole Butcher Shop, and Zanata.

An Interactive Kids Funtime Area will have face painting, carnival games, pumpkin carving, cane pole fishing and a petting zoo.

The Feast-ival Big Stage will feature live entertainment all day from leading North Texas area bands.  The evening will include a street party and street dance and more.
